You’ve probably realized by now that I’m a little obsessed with blended beverages. Though I left smoothies by the wayside during the colder months, the blender made its official spring debut in my kitchen this past week. And with the selection of a new pope yesterday, and the celebration of a saint named Patrick in three days, I give you a very green, very saintly smoothie.
I love green smoothies because I feel like a ninja any time I’m able to eat a serving of vegetables before the sun rises (read: for breakfast). Nutritious, delicious, this holy smoothie has become my ideal March breakfast. I think you’ll love it, too.
Saintly Green Smoothie
Kale blends best in a high-powered blender. If you don’t have one, you can strain the smoothie to remove the leftover leafy bits, or just substitute spinach. Makes 1 large or 2 smaller servings.
Ingredients
1 ripe banana
1 medium mango, peeled and cut from seed
1 large handful chopped kale
~1/2 cup juice of your choice (I used kombucha and loved it)
1 handful ice
1 tablespoon protein powder
1 teaspoon ground flax seed
Directions
Place all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. If you like a thinner smoothie, add a little extra juice/kombucha. Drink up!
What’s your ideal springtime breakfast?

You and I are really in sync! I just posted a green smoothie recipe too. Baby kale blends really well and leaves no chunks behind
But my true love is arugula <3
I laughed when I saw your post this morning! Great minds think alike! I’m going to try adding lemon to my smoothies…sounds like a perfect way to brighten my mornings up
