A “moment” from each month I spent in NYC. Sometimes tasty, always tRuthful.
Month 19: November 2013
I’m standing on a corner of Times Square, preparing to be interviewed about my New York experiences for my hometown news channel. The camera man pans back and forth over me to adjust the lighting. Two news anchors chat quietly on the side, making a rough plan for how they want the segment to unfold. Tourists buzz about curiously, ever-intrigued by the assumed importance of news cameras. A cab driver leans on his horn as he passes through. “Check, check, 1, 2, 1, 2,” the sound guy tests his equipment. I stand silently and still, and pray to God that my mouth will open when they ask me the first question.
